As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster, and the quirky and charming Adam Damerell is just that, albeit with a sideline as a hairdresser in the hilarious film The Great Unwashed.
A case of mistaken identity sees jobless Charlie interviewed by a gang of criminal hairdressers. After witnessing a murder he is forced to flee to Wales where his brother Rudyard and his “spiritual life partner’ Tulip live off the grid in a wood with other hippies. With the “hairdressers” on his trail this leads to an epic showdown of gangsters vs. hippies.
The film is currently touring the film festival circuit and was a recent winner of best comedy at the Sydney Indie Film Festival
