Watford Palace Theatre and HOME Manchester present a ground-breaking production of The Merchant of Venice starring Tracey Ann Oberman.
Shakespeare’s classic, directed by Watford Palace Theatre’s Artistic Director Brigid Larmour, and starring Tracy-Ann Oberman as Shylock.
This exciting co-production is set in London, 1936 – With fascism sweeping across Europe, and Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists threatening to march through the Jewish East End. Tracy-Ann Oberman (Eastenders, It’s a Sin) leads what the director Brigid Larmour has called “a brilliant cast of actors”, including our very own Jessica Dennis!
This historical re-telling of one of Shakespeare’s ‘problem plays’, which sees Shylock as a widowed survivor of the anti-Semitic pogroms in Russia, has been forged in workshops with the RSC.
The production will run at the Watford Palace Theatre from February 27 to March 11 next year. To book tickets, visit the website.
